Friday has been a slapping contest between the “Lady in Black” and the drivers. The winner between the two has clearly been Darlington.

The Colors of Darlington
For all of you that ever heard Aaron Tippin lyrics, you can just picture the scene outside of Darlington Raceway. It‘s a bonanza of colors from pink lawn flamingos to the silver and black flying flags in remembrance of the late Dale Earnhardt. Yet the one color appearing to beam from the hundreds of NASCAR fans that have already arrived in Darlington is gold. As in, these are the golden days to be a race fan, the days before the race when the anticipation heightens with each hour that breezes by.

NFL Bound
I only caught the tale end of two great collegiate careers, but in the brief time I’ve known Jerome Simpson and Mike Tolbert, I’m excited for them. It could be because we cover them on such a frequent basis, or because I’ve gotten the opportunity to know them off the field. Still in their own ways their accomplishments of moving on to the NFL has been a highlight in my brief time in the Eastern Carolinas

The Masters: Second Round
Scores are getting lower and the temperature is rising here at Augusta National. The front nine has yielded some low scroes alreay, and for those that tee'd off this morning, they're just hitting the back nine.

Fisch Tank: Baseball Preview 3
We have some big time matchups taking place this week on the diamond. As far as last week goes, how can you not be impressed by CCU going up to Cary and jumping on the Tar Heels? Plus, you had Clemson's early entry freshmen Kyle Parker yoke 3 Home runs and 7 RBI to save the Tigers from a sweep against Wake. Think about this, he should be playing High School ball right now, that's impressive. Time to take a look at this week.

Fisch Tank: Baseball Preview
Good thing it’s still early in the college baseball season, because my picks for the past week were way off. Coastal Carolina was a pleasant surprise and Gamecocks pitcher Blake Cooper made me eat crow! So, I’ll attempt to get back into the win column with my predictions for the week ahead.

Fisch Tank: Let them play!
Robbery and bad judgement are ideas normally associated with crimes. Yet, those are two ways of stating how poor the officiating was this past weekend in Columbia. The affects of the referees in the basektball state championships could've have been the difference between tears and smiles.

Fisch Tank: CCU Arena
Why can't Coastal Carolina get the support they need to build their new home for hoops? I have a few ideas why, and answers to solve their Gymnasium woes.

Fish Tank: Best time of year
August and September brings the buzz of basketball and the start of football and while some sports fans think it’s the best time of year, I don’t. Give me February and March, for the simple reason of optimism.
