The Colors of DarlingtonFor all of you that ever heard Aaron Tippin lyrics, you can just picture the scene outside of Darlington Raceway. It‘s a bonanza of colors from pink lawn flamingos to the silver and black flying flags in remembrance of the late Dale Earnhardt. Yet the one color appearing to beam from the hundreds of NASCAR fans that have already arrived in Darlington is gold. As in, these are the golden days to be a race fan, the days before the race when the anticipation heightens with each hour that breezes by.

NFL BoundI only caught the tale end of two great collegiate careers, but in the brief time I’ve known Jerome Simpson and Mike Tolbert, I’m excited for them. It could be because we cover them on such a frequent basis, or because I’ve gotten the opportunity to know them off the field. Still in their own ways their accomplishments of moving on to the NFL has been a highlight in my brief time in the Eastern Carolinas
