Blogging Good Time7308
Got a bill in the mail this week addressed to my late son Payson. It was from one of the satellite radio op-erations that he had an account with. He had satellite radio service in his Jeep Wrangler.

What good is a middle name these days?
There are those of us on this great planet that go by their middle names. My full name is James Dwight Dana. I like middle names so much that I hung them on my triplet boys: Robert Brenton Dana, James Radisson Dana and the late Rich-ard Payson Dana.

Remembering my dad
I had been 19 for less than a month when my father died of a sudden heart attack in 1964. He and my mother were on their way back from visiting my grandmother in New Milford, Ct. They spent the night in Roanoke, Va. He rode the rest of the way home in a Belk Funeral Home hearse.

the seersucker suit mystery
It’s spring, but summer blew in this week with a heat wave that forced me to crank up the air conditioning in my house. I was waiting as long as I could because the dogs dug trenches around the AC unit. They covered it with dirt. I’m just hoping the unit doesn’t blow up.

Blogging My Mind
Got a notice this week that the fine city I live in was trying to deliver a certified letter to me. The name on the front was James Dana. The only people who have ever referred to me as James are the IRS, the U. S. Navy, and the Selective Service Commission when it was going strong.

Computers, noise and a hunk of changing times
I know little if anything about computers except how to turn them on and off.

Blog revives Navy friend from the past
Several weeks ago I blogged about having to go on TV to promo a Sunday story I had written. I mentioned my experience as a Navy journalist in 1971 when I was attached to the American Forces Philippines Network in Sangley Point in the Philippines.

Understanding directions, written or verbal, isn’t for me
I can write a legible sentence every now and then, but don't give me directions to read or anything that has to be put together. My frustration level is intolerable when it comes to directions - verbal or written. I bought a new car three weeks ago.

The boob tube isn’t for me
Back some 38 years ago I passed the exam to be a Navy Journalist. I was immediaely transferred from the USS Seminole (LKA104) - the oldest cargo ship in the U. S. Navy - to Sangley Point, a base in the Philippines across the bay from Manila.

Ink-stained scribe goes blogging
It’s blogging time for this old ink-stained scribe who thinks there’s no sweeter sound than the clickety-clack of a room full of old loyal Royal manual typewriters. The smokier the thoughts got, the harder you could pound on that sturdy keyboard. The keys even talked back to you if you listened hard enough.
