The internet - a broadcasting force to be reckoned with
The internet is quickly taking over as a powerful force in the broadcasting world. It's not yet replacing other venues, but many experts say, it one day will. It's an issue that is at the center of the writers' strike, and one that I've found...has some merit.

It’s hard finding living turkeys…the day before Thanksgiving
We had this great idea today of finding one of the last, living turkeys on the day before Thanksgiving, and telling his story.
I jumped at the chance to do this story. I love doing stories that give people a break from the everyday news.
I imagined it would be fairly easy to find turkeys in the Pee Dee. There are lots of farms in the area, and definitely lots of chicken houses, so why not turkeys?
Well after about an hour, 14 google searches, and about 16 phone calls...I discovered it's really hard to find living turkeys around here.

Christmas Tree Timing
So who decides how early is too early to put up the Christmas tree? I know everyone has a differing viewpoint on this. Some people get downright offended if it's up before Thanksgiving. So what's the deal? Is there an official time? After some "thorough" research, I've discovered the answer is... no.

Welcome Cold Weather!
So if Wednesday was any indication, winter-like weather is officially on its way. If you live in the South for any length of time, you run into many people who have extremely different views on the weather. A lot of Northerners come down here because of the weather...and I would venture to guess that a lot of Southerners stay down here for the very same reason. You pretty much only have to wear a winter jacket for a couple of months out of the year. I have to say though...that after working for several years straight in the 100+ degree summer days, I enjoy being able to wear the winter jacket

Do You Like Your Job?
I figured I'd start off this blogging thing by addressing the question most people ask. Once they get over the fact that I look very young and have a strong resemblence to a certain former teenage witch...this is where the conversation usually goes. I find it interesting that out of all of the questions people could ask, that this is the one they most often pick. I think people ask this because they have a slight misconception of what actually goes on in a newsroom. It's not anyone's fault, it's the way newsrooms and media types are portrayed in television and movies.
