We have much to be thankful for

As Thanksgiving Day approaches, I’m reminded of all I have to be thankful for.  The main blessings in my life are my two children.

Coping with tragedy

This week has been an extremely difficult and emotional news week.  The lives of seven college students were lost this week to a house fire in Ocean Isle Beach.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims families.

Get your flu shot

Flu season is fast approaching. As the health correspondent for News13, I’ve had many conversations over the years with those in the medical field about the importance of getting a flu shot.  The very young and the elderly are especially encouraged to get a shot.  DHEC’s Florence County public health departments are now scheduling flu shot appointments.

Biker for a day…

Thousands of bikers are rolling into town for the Myrtle Beach Fall Bike Rally. While it’s a smaller event than the one in May, it’s still one of the larger rallies in the Carolinas. It’s truly a unique experience, and the people are all so nice. I even had the opportunity to dress like a biker, even for just a little while. That was a lot of fun. And in case you think the leather is just for looks, think again. It’s considered protective gear. It will protect a biker from the harsh pavement in the event of a crash.
