Biker bar owners respond to talk of ending the bike rallies
Long-time Horry County biker establishments don't want to see the spring motorcycle rallies end. In fact, Jimmy Motley, owner of the original SBB biker bar in murrells inlet, told me today he doesn't think they'll ever get rid of the rallies. They being "the city of Myrtle Beach."

Patrol talks about biker safety following the rallies
The bike rallies are over along the Grand Strand. Hundreds of thousands of bikers cruised the area for more than two weeks. Four bikers died during the rallies.

McLeod oncologist talks about general treatment of malignant brain tumors
Senator Edward Kennedy's doctors say the Massachusetts Democrat has a malignant brain tumor. Physicians say tests conducted after the 76-year-old suffered a seizure over the weekend found the tumor.

Update on the flu season
Flu activity in South Carolina remains widespread. In North Carolina, the number of flu cases has reached a four-year high. And a Georgia hospital says it's working at full capacity as members of its staff continue to call out sick and more people are coming in with flu symptoms.

Flu season is in full swing
Flu season is in full swing. The latest numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show there are wide outbreaks in 11 states. And if that wasn't bad enough, there's a new strain of flu coming out that wasn't targeted by this year's vaccine.

Lawmakers to consider eliminating PACT
A bill will be introduced this week in the House to replace the end-of-the-year state test taken yearly by third- through eight-graders. Landrum Representative Bob Walker says the Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test would be replaced by an exam that gives teachers more detailed and timely information.

New prescription discount drug program
You might say folks in Horry County got an early Christmas present today. The county announced a new prescription discount card program today. The goal is to say everyone a little money. And that's great news, since most of us are spending more money than usual because of Christmas.

Chamber event was a huge success
The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce held its 28th Annual Summit Banquet last night at Marina Inn at Grand Dunes. The state Chamber is considered the unified voice for business and industry in South Carolina. This basically means the Chamber's goal is to improve the quality of life in South Carolina, by improving the business climate, and enhancing the state's global competitiveness.
